Rooted in Imagination, Raised in Fashion
As a young girl, I was already deep into my entrepreneurial adventures. I turned ordinary lunch boxes into velvet-lined pocketbooks trimmed with flair, crafted multi-level candles, and sold them door to door around the neighborhood. (I got so many orders I couldn’t even fill them all!) I even recruited my best friend to perform circus acts and gymnastics on my swing set — complete with handmade brochures for our “audience.”
The best part? At just 8 years old, I made enough money to open my very first bank account. I was beyond proud — and totally hooked on the joy of creating, selling, and dreaming big.
I went on to become an Art Therapist, working in a New York City Hospital. But life, as it often does, took an unexpected turn. I met a young woman with a background in fashion design, and though I knew nothing about textiles or clothing design, we teamed up to create a children’s clothing line. Somehow, our collaboration led us straight to 112 West 34th Street — the heart of the children’s fashion district — and into a brand new adventure.
We found many enthusiastic buyers who loved our designs — and just like that, we were off and running with our very own children’s clothing business. Not long after, we landed the cover of the New York Times Sunday Magazine section, thanks to one bold decision: we added black to our collection — a color considered off-limits in kids' fashion in the 1980’s. That daring choice caught attention and opened doors.
From that moment on, my passion has been clear — to bring fresh, imaginative design to young girls across America. Colors and patterns dance through my mind constantly — every day, every hour, even in my sleep. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to live my dream for over 30 years, and today I continue to design with joy and purpose for Area Code 407 Kids. Inspiration still flows, and each day feels like a new beginning.
